Seating consists of fourteen private booths and the large dining room opens onto a beautiful courtyard. The restaurant’s interior space and state-of-the-art kitchen were designed by world-renowned architects. Considerable effort was made to retain the character and charm of the original Giardina’s, but the white tablecloths, fine crystal and premium Viking cutlery add the feeling of elegance one would expect from a fine dining restaurant in a large metropolitan area. Giardina’s bar, reminiscent of a bygone era, features the same dark wood and tile of the restaurant while offering today’s premium liquors, wines and liqueurs. Featuring steaks, seafood and Italian cuisine, Giardina’s atmosphere is old world elegant but dress is laid-back “Delta casual.

Serio’s was originally established in November of 1943 by Salvo Serio, great-uncle of current Serio’s co-proprietor, Frank Leflore. The original restaurant was located at the corner of Mississippi Ave. and Alabama St. in Greenwood, Mississippi, and was renowned for its great Italian food and sandwiches. In the late afternoon and evening, Serio’s offered curb service complete with carhops in white caps that were common in Greenwood in that era.

Salvo’s family came to America from Cefalu in the Sicilian region of Italy. Salvo served his own version of his family’s Sicilian specialties, including various pastas and his trademark Open Face Meatball Sandwich, a house specialty which became known as the Serio’s OFMBS and remains on the menu today. Salvo operated Serio’s continuously for over 30 years until he retired in the 1970s. In addition to traditional Italian cusisine, including Frank’s mother’s legendary lasagna, Serio’s also offers an extensive menu of appetizers, salads, steaks, seafood and other entrées. And in keeping with today’s increasing emphasis on health-conscious dining, Serio’s also provide a large selection of gluten-free dishes.

Today Serio’s doesn’t have carhops, and is located in a modern building that includes a full- service bar, patio dining with a bocce ball court, a fireside dining room, and numerous enclosed private dining booths, but the tradition of providing the finest cuisine in a welcoming, casual environment continues.
